Your host will be Tom Rowling, who lives right next door to The Haven. He will welcome you to The Haven, show you the various features of the place, including any safety measures you need to be aware of, and then leave you to enjoy your privacy.
After visiting a few self contained accommodation places around New Zealand ten years ago, Tom and his late wife Alison were inspired to create a place that offered everything they wanted in a self contained accommodation unit. Their signature can be seen throughout The Haven – indeed, Tom designed The haven, winning the Master Builders House of the Year 2000.
Tom’s ancestor was the first European to set foot on Kaiteriteri Beach, after sailing with Captain Arthur Wakefeild in 1841, and so Tom continues a long tradition of the Rowling name being present in Kaiteriteri.
Tom also has five grown boys and is a proud grandparent.
